Thou shalt have a knitted fishy!

Here's the knitted fish I made a couple of weeks ago now.
I wanted to knit this little guppy because it involved using a range of knitting techniques. The middle of the body consisted of doing fair isle; something I've never done before. I was a bit apprehensive about trying it but turns out it was pretty easy!
I ended up giving the fish away to my friend who needed a bit of cheering up at the time. With it's funky colours I think it definitely did the trick!
She's named it Willie. A good solid name for a fish I think!

I think you could sell these. How about an online shop when you've got a bit of stock up? Or a craft fair stall somewhere before christmas?

(I have got the perfect christmas present for you. heh heh heh yes I know it's only September...)

I've been thinking about making and selling for a while now actually. If I could spend my working life making my crafty stuff and make good money out of it then I would be so so happy! Dad has always said that I would never get the moneys worth with the hours I would have to put in though. But I guess if I enjoy it then why shouldn't I?!

You've just given me the first pang of christmas excitement and it's only blinking September! I'm not going to be able to stop thinking what this present could be now!!
What could it be????

This has been my problem with the fancy biscuits/chocolates. I like making them but they are very labour instensive and it's only really in the richer parts of London that people are willing to pay silly money for biscuits.

I did one or two "professional" jobs but it wasn't worth the hours I put in for sure.

I would view it as a sideline - craft fairs and the like. (Factoring in the fact that you have to stand there all day selling them - that counts as time spent as well!)

And also develop some lines that don't take an age to make but that look effective - same things in different colours with slightly different decorations, things you could easily personalise with a name and charge extra for.

And how about putting together kits and selling those as well, obviously at vast expense? eg the fish - you could put in a photo of the finished thing, the pattern, the wool and maybe needles and package up nicely. (Assuming it's not someone else's copyright pattern.)

Sorry didn't realise you commented again!
I think sideline is definitely the way to go. Hey! Maybe we should go in partnership together!

Mum and dad went away for the weekend and brought me back a present. It was a block of painted wood with a wire hook with 'I love knitting' in pretty writing. It would have been so easy to make; literally minutes to do. It's that sort of thing that you're more likely to get something out of isn't it.

I wouldn't be able to sell packages of anything I've made and shown on my blog as they're all from copyrighted books. But I've done enough knitting to probably be able to have a good go at trying to come up with a pattern of my own. It's definitely a path to go down.

Megan school has a christmas craft fair every year so I could maybe buy a stall??

hmm...lots to think about!
