Real life drawing!

I decided to try my hand at a bit of real life drawing the other day so I drew a part of my room that I could see from my bed. And I don't mean the bed that's featured in the picture! That's just a pull out bed that was out at the time because we had my Nana up to stay therefore my sister had to sleep in my room.
It's the first time I've done drawing like this since for years so for a first time I guess it wasn't too bad!
(You may need to click to enlarge it in order see it better because the photo isn't very good!)

More drawing!

Ok. So I don't even know if people saw the first lot of my drawings because no one commented on them but hey! I'll show you some more... so here they are!

MAJOR drawing fest!

In the past few days, I've been very busy drawing! Inspiration struck me so I took full advantage of it and got all my ideas out. Thing is though, I've drawn so many things that I can't put them all onto a single post! I think what I'll do is put a few on now and maybe post some more later.
What spurred on the drawing fest was that I was designing some stickers for my laptop and thought that I would create some pictures of my own to go in the mix. It's a site called MOO where you can personalize cards and stickers. It will take a while for them to be printed and then sent but when they come, I'll let you know!
My drawings are meant to be random and quirky by the way! Thought I'd let you know just in case you think I've taken permanent leave of my senses!

Cookie Bouquets!

For most of the day yesterday, whilst everyone was at the Great North Run, I was very busy baking with my Nana acting as assistant chef!
It took a lot longer than I was expecting but in the end I was happy with the result considering the novice I am at baking! Making the gingerbread went fairly well except it was a bit dry so we had to splash a bit of milk in. Even today, when you enter the kitchen, you can still smell the ginger emanating from the cooker!
Icing was... eventful! FOUR piping bags later and all the icing was done. The first one broke so I made some rather unsuccessful homemade one out of greaseproof paper. In the end we nipped around the corner and borrowed one from a friend. It was SO messy too! I swear that more went on the table and my hands than the actual cookies.
Dad and Ellen completed the GNR in a good time of 2 hours 29 minutes! So as you can imagine, I presented the bouquets over to some rather tired people! My Dad gives the cookies a thumbs up! Not to hard or too soft which I was really pleased about!
What do you think of them?!

Great North Run!!!!!

It's time for another shout out so hold your ears!
Good luck to all the runners tommorow especially my Dad and my twin sister, my Uncle and his sister-inlaw. Your all going to be brilliant but rather smelly and sweaty out the end I bet! I'm not looking at anyone in particular...DAD!!!!! My Dad sweats so much that he can actually ring his t-shirt out and droplets pour out!
This is going to be my Dad's sixth time running the Great North but my sister's first so I think she's pretty nervous!
Have fun everyone!

Knit one purl one...

Well, I've started yet another crafty project along with numerous other things I have going on! Speaking of other projects, the plane is going well but I have reached the stage where I'm slathering the model with dope so you cant really see any progress going on. But I tell you, if smellyvision actually exsisted, you would be able to smell the progress! It absolutely stunk to high heaven! Definately had to move the hamster out!
So yeah, back to the knitting! I have decided that now is the time to start trying my hand at the 'sport'. I've knitted before but it's always been one of those things that I always started but never finished. Being a lot older now, my attention span has gotten to be somewhat better! I'm knitting some monster pillows that I saw on the internet last night and thought would be a great addition to my aspiring quirky room. So far it's going quite well and it's staying pretty neat for my first proper try. I do have a habit though of not dropping a stitch but gaining them!
The picture is of what hopefully the pillow should look like!

Whoop whoop!

BIG shout out to my Auntie and Uncle who have just had a new little baby girl!
Congratulations dudes! Everyone is so thrilled but getting achy jaws from smiling too much!
She's called Jemiah which I think is a gorgeous name for a gorgeous baby!

New blog, new me!

As you can see, I've changed the template of my blog! I've also added a cool header at the top. You like? I was getting bored of the heading being in just plain font at the top and have been looking for a while now to make it more exciting. I bet you didn't even notice the old title because it was that boring! The old template I had however, didn't allow for such a big long picture to go on the top so I had to change that too. I quite like the new template actually. I always felt that the other one was a bit too dark. Let me know what you think!

Flying without wings!

This is the stage I'm up to at the moment with my messerschmitt. It now has wings but are not yet attached to the fuselage. I think it will be a while before that happens as I have to do all that work on the wood. I think I may have to have the window open when I do that bit to save myself from getting high! Oh yeah there's a thought. As you can see in the photos, I have my hamster right by my work so I might have to move her! Unless I want an intoxicated hamster having got high from sniffing glue!
I've got proper dihedral height on it now which makes it look a bit more wing like. There was a very intricate way of acheiving this height. Er ok there wasn't. I just put whatever I could find that would give me the right angle. In the booklet, they do it with proper little measured out wooden blocks. Puh, who needs wooden blocks when you have sellotape reels and box lids at hand!

It's like looking in a mirror!

This is a drawing I did on my art tablet I have for my laptop that I've just this minute finished! Up until now I couldn't get all my other drawings put on from my laptop onto here because I had saved them in a format that this site doesn't recognise. But today though I did a bit of fiddling and have managed to put it into a format especially so that you guys can see! It looks impressive doesn't it! I can't take all the credit and say I did it free hand because that wouldn't be entirely true. What I did is traced a photo of myself and then did the rest. It was really tricky getting the skin tone right but I managed it in the end. Let me know what you think of it!

This way!

This is my new artwork that has now taken pride of place on my wall! As you can see, it's lots of little road signs shaped into an arrow. All the pictures are of things that I think sum up me. For some reason I like road signs like these and found a site where I could copy all of them onto word doc. I then printed them all off and laminated them.
I wanted something a bit original to go into my room but cool at the same time. I have lots of ideas for some quirky artwork to go onto the canvases I have so keep your eyes peeled for them so you can tell me what you think! ... huh. What does that even mean? Keep your eyes peeled. Eww! I now have a horrible image of someone peeling their eyes like you would do with an orange. Gross! (sorry if you were eating whilst reading that by the way)

That's progress for you!

Well I've been going great guns on my plane! I actually did this work yesterday but thought I would publish my work today so I didn't have two progress reports in one day.
As you can see, I've made quite a bit of progress so that the skeleton of the body of the plane is now complete. Next in line to do now is the wings. After that I think I have to apply dope on all the wood to make it stronger or something. As you can tell, I'm not sure! If that is the case though, it will probably mean that I won't have much to show you guys when I get to that point unless of course you are an expert in the art of applying cellulose dope!

Thursday 3 September 2009

Neeeeoooowww!

Ok, that was my impression of a plane by the way not a cat!
Well, I've made a start on my model plane. So far, I'm really enjoying it. The stage that I'm at in the picture took quite a while to do but I didn't realise it at the time. It's definitely one of those things where you have a different perception of the time. Time just flies by when your having fun... or when your deeply engrossed in something!
Out of all the construction models I've worked on, working with wood is my favourite material. For some reason it just feels more technical and certainly more natural.
It wasn't as tricky as I thought it was going to be but some bits were quite tricky as the wood didn't want to comply with what I wanted it to do. Naughty wood!
I'm planning to do a lot more later in the day so I'll put up another post with my progress on that before the day is out!
(To have a better look at the model click on the picture and it will enlarge.)

Dudes!

What a nightmare of an evening I've had! I've spent most of the evening trying to sign into my blogger account with exasperating results. Normally my computer keeps me logged into my blog but for some reason, it decided to sign me out. When I went to sign in again, it wouldn't let me. I just assumed that maybe I forgot the password so I sent for a new one. But I've realised that I've typed my email address wrong so that then meant that I wasn't getting any emails letting me change my password. Confused? Don't worry, so was I. Although I was more frustrated to the point that I was actually crying! To save my sanity, I've created a new blog using my correct email ad. There must have been a simpler way but I was having trouble ever since I started my blog so enough was enough for me and I just decided to wipe the slate clean. I feel a lot better and calmer now that I've solved the problem albeit in an extreme way! I felt it was the right thing to do!
